Aced Spade, co-owner of We Create Records, is a producer and DJ born and raised in Chicago. Music has always been around Spade since he was a young boy but music production was not his first exposure to music. He started out as a free-styling hip hop dancer, which developed his love for rhythms as he would interpret songs, using his body to empathize and precisely control his movements to certain rhythms to songs. He loved to dance so much to the point where if there was no music for him to dance to, he would beat box and dance to his own beats. Literally! Spade influence in music came from listening to a lot of music his mother would play, which genres were ranged from Hip Hop, Jazz, Soul, RnB, Gospel, and because of Spade’s mother being a Nigerian, Ghanaian, and Kenyan woman, she would play African music as well. Being exposed to all of these different types of music and Spade beatboxing so much, Spade was very curious to know how artist made music and was able to share it with the world and it was not until the age of 11 when his step brother exposed him to his first producing software, Fruity Loops or FL Studio 9. While learning how to use the software, Spade heard about soundcloud, a place where musician had a platform to upload and, essentially, share their music to the world. Spade knew that this is where he should start and began to upload his originals and remixes using Soundcloud. 8 years later, Spade dropped his first beat tape, Aced EP, and in the same year, drops his second beat tape, Late Night Thoughts. In 2016, Spade releases a 14-track mixtape called PVO. Months later after releasing his mixtape, Spade began performing at local shows around Chicago which lead him to perform at venues like Emporium, The Beat Kitchen, Elbo Room, and Bassline. Spade currently has dj residencies around Chicago. You can catch his sets at Emporium (Wicker Park), Nights & Weekends, Easy Bar, The Duplex, and The Walk In.
